IHG Hotels and Resorts is investing in regional Australia with the signing of its first hotel on the New South Wales south coast, Crowne Plaza Shell Cove Marina, scheduled to open in 2025.
The 181-key hotel includes a cafe, restaurant and bar, extensive meeting and events space, and an outdoor pool.
“We are delighted to extend our reach across regional NSW with the addition of this stylish and fashion-forward hotel on the NSW south coast, highlighting the growing demand for new, contemporary hotels in regional NSW,” said IHG Hotels and Resorts Australasia and Pacific General Manager, Matt Tripolone.
“With an ideal position close to Wollongong and major industrial and educational centres, Crowne Plaza Shell Cove Marina will be a popular option for business travelers and guests of meetings and events, and will have all the features that travelers to businesses expect from a hotel – excellent connectivity in order to work during the day while being a place that offers the possibility for travelers to relax with a drink at the bar at the end of the day. Vacationers will also no doubt appreciate the prime coastal location and wonderful leisure facilities.”
Crowne Plaza Shell Cove Marina will be part of a $1.5 billion development that will include a man-made harbor and marina, supermarket, retail stores, restaurants, library, community center and parks.
The Crowne Plaza Shell Cove Marina is IHG’s second hotel with the Oscars group, the first being the Holiday Inn Warwick Farm.
“We are very proud of our partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts and excited to grow our relationship with them and embark on this incredible Crowne Plaza development with them,” said Damien Cameron, CEO of Oscars Group.
“We are passionate about the South Coast of New South Wales and are delighted to strengthen our presence in the area, particularly as plans for the development of Shell Cove and the marina come to fruition. We look forward to working with the local community and welcoming guests to this beautiful new hotel in 2025.”
