Team announced at voco Melbourne Central
IHG Hotels and Resorts has announced senior appointments for its new Australasian property, voco Melbourne Central.
Erik Stuebe leads the team as general manager. Stuebe has worked for several hotel groups around the world, including nearly six years as General Manager of the InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto. It is also Area GM for Victoria and Tasmania.
“It’s the coming together of a dream team with years of experience in all facets of hotel operations,” Stuebe said.
“With the voco Melbourne Central finishes nearing completion, we are extremely proud of this truly quirky hotel in the heart of Melbourne. Our staff will provide refreshing hospitality to all of our guests, and many of our team members have worked together in previous roles.
The leadership team includes other award-winning InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto alumni: Christine Bridge, Celeste Clarke, Jackie Liu, Ian Lee and Hobin Lee.
Christine Bridge has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing for voco Melbourne Central. She has worked in various hotel groups internationally in sales, events and marketing roles.
Ian Lee has been appointed executive chef of the hotel. Originally from South Korea, Lee has spent nearly 30 years working in luxury hotels around the world. Among his accolades, he has won the Global Culinary Competition, the Black Box Culinary Competition Gold Medal and the Potential of People Award.
Outrigger makes two key appointments
Outrigger Hospitality Group has announced that Steve Miller will be the new general manager of Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort, while Cesar Herrera has been named the company’s vice president of design and construction.
Miller brings extensive management experience, including serving as General Manager of The Westin/Sheraton Birmingham in Alabama and as General Manager of Hyatt Regency Birmingham, Marriott Clearwater Beach, Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort and Spa, Hilton Sedona Resort and Spa as well as the Beverly Heritage Hotel.
He began his hospitality career with Hyatt Hotels Corporation where he started as an executive assistant before becoming front desk manager and later assistant regional manager.
Herrera will oversee all investment projects in Outrigger’s global portfolio, while providing advisory and oversight services – a role that Outrigger says is critical to its growth and redevelopment strategy in Hawai’i, Asia. – Pacific and Indian Ocean.
Previously, Herrera was Vice President of Development and Construction for Mina Group and prior to that, he had an 18-year tenure at Kimpton Hotels, starting as a Project Engineer and eventually becoming Senior Director of Development and Construction.
Salter Brothers strengthens the hotel teams
Salter Brothers is bolstering its hotel investment, development and asset management teams, with key appointments of experienced industry figures Wesley Milsom, Raphael Antonini and Marie Colangelo.
The global fund manager has hired Wesley Milsom as Senior Director – Transactions, a role that will focus on hotel transactions.
Milsom has over 16 years of real estate experience in the hospitality and tourism industry, and extensive experience in valuation, fund management, asset management and strategy implementation of funds.
Raphael Antonini joins the company as Senior Director – Special Projects, which will involve supporting and leading multiple strategy and research assignments for the development of new hotel funds.
Antonini brings over 15 years of international experience in hotel branding, hotel development and investment, hospitality consulting and revenue management, and speaks four languages.
Marie Colangelo has been appointed Project Director (Strategic Projects) at Salter Brothers and will focus on expanding the hotel repositioning portfolio. Throughout her 18-year hotel career, she has gained extensive experience in project management and has held various ownership, operator and project management positions.
Salter Brothers hotel manager Steven Skarott said the new hires put the company in a strong position for future growth.
