Hotel staff and Navy personnel together donated a total of 12,000 cc of blood during the blood drive at Centra Maris Resort Jomtien.

Centra Maris Resort Jomtien, with the cooperation of 1st Coastal Defense Regiment, Royal Thai Navy Air and Coastal Defense Command, jointly organized a blood drive aptly named “Blood Donation from the Heart, One Donor, Many beneficiaries”

The September 2 blood drive was led by Chaiphun Thongsuthum, Regional General Manager on behalf of hotel management and staff and Lt. JG. Taveesak Thiplamai, civil affairs officer of the Royal Thai Navy.

The spokesperson for the Thai Red Cross said blood stocks were low and hospitals across the country did not have enough blood in reserve to treat emergency patients, patients awaiting d surgery or blood diseases and accident victims.

He said that during the Covid-19 pandemic, blood donations had fallen to an extremely low level due to restrictions and lockdowns. Therefore, regular blood drives are essential to urgently replenish depleted stocks.

GM Chaiphun said that Centra Maris Resort Jomtien has a policy of donating blood 4 times a year, but unfortunately due to the pandemic, this was the first blood drive this year. Nevertheless, 30 hotel staff as well as members of the Navy donated a total of 12,000 cc of blood that day.
