Mumbai police officer assaults hotel staff for refusing to serve food

Bombay: A deputy police inspector of the Vakola police station in Santacruz (east) was filmed assaulting hotel staff, for allegedly refusing to serve food and alcohol after midnight, reported information platforms. The incident took place at the “Swagat” restaurant near the Vakola police station in Santacruz East on Thursday at around 12:30 am. According to witnesses, Vikram Patil entered the restaurant from the kitchen and asked for food. He appeared to be drunk, witnesses said. The manager, Ganesh Patil, told Inspector Patil that the kitchen was closed because it was around 12.35am, but that did not stop the policeman, who became enraged and started using profanity. Other restaurant workers dragged the cop away and held him back, but he managed to hit the manager a few times. According to the unrecognizable complaint registered by Vakola police under Article 323 of the IPC (causing willful injury), Vikram Patil assaulted staff for refusing to serve food and alcohol, according to reports.
